Could this be done with a corporate group?
We see this as the perfect opportunity to build a strong team and encourage working together. Hayden can also offer Strategic Planning facilitation, Cultural framework development and Treaty of Waitangi Training. Rather than a one-day team building exercise, or playing games in a board room, why not canoe the Whanganui River together?
Where do we start from?
Trips normally start in Ohakune or Whanganui. Transport can be arranged depending on where you are travelling from. But it will pay to speak with Hayden to ensure meeting places are confirmed prior to your Unique Experience Starts
How will we get to the river?
The journey to Whakahoro is the start of your Unique experience. The majority of trips will leave from Ohakune, and arriving at Whakahoro a couple hours later. A mini-bus will transport everyone to Whakahoro, with all gear and canoes.
Other arrangements can be made, just talk to us about options.
Do I need previous canoeing experience?
Not at all, these trips cater for the absolute beginner who has never paddled before. You’ll be given clear Safety Briefings and also a bit of Training prior to leaving in order to help you manage, and Hayden will always be on-hand to offer advice. There are a number of rapids between Whakahoro and Pipiriki, however they're no problem at all – they are perfect for beginners, great fun but not at all dangerous.
What do I need to bring?
The following is recommended:
- Snack food – anything you may want to keep you going whilst on the river, between meals
- Warm on-river and off-river clothes
- River footwear
A comprehensive list will be provided when you book.
How many people do I need to book?
You can book as an individual, a couple or a group. A tour is usually made up of 12-14 people, sometimes all of these will be from one group, but the majority of times it's a mixture of people. Also can cater for large groups up to 50 people but planning is required at 3 months.
